Rain, Rain, Go Away!

Well, there's not much going on in the blog today because it poured rain all day here! I've heard it's been doing the same thing in Wenatchee, so I guess we're all in good company! Anyway, it rained so hard that we really didn't get to do much of anything except visit the cathedral. And, sadly, the cathedral is so dark that I don't think my pictures are going to be that impressive! But here's what I've got. Cross your fingers for better weather tomorrow.

These first three exterior shots are off the internet. The cathedral is on such a tiny square that I couldn't back up far enough to get a picture of more than the front doors and arches. But these are pretty good pics so you can at least see what the outside of it looks like. It's really beautiful, and it's very different than any other cathedral we've ever seen because it's made of a reddish stone that's from this eastern part of France. It's really interesting to see the reddish gray stripes in each layer of stone!

Oh, if we could only have the blue skies in the pic below! :-)

It's very much a gothic cathedral so it's extremely dark inside. The only reason you can see the pillars and ceiling is because of all the electric lights they've added.

This is the gorgeous, intricately carved pulpit! It's just beautiful! I love seeing the different pulpits in every cathedral we visit. They're usually pretty similar with the detailed carving, but they details are always different and sometimes there is more color.

This is one of the side chapels. It's more ornate than the cathedral's nave.

This is the ornate and colorful organ! Isn't it fantastic! Usually they are very dark, but this one is just full of color!

This is a clock tower that's located in the front right hand side of the cathedral. I've never seen one INSIDE a cathedral before. Usually they're outside or in the main square by city hall or something like that.

This final picture is of the Angel Column up by the clock tower. It's got numerous carvings of different angels all around it. It's magnificent. I'm sorry the picture doesn't really show how beautiful it is.

Well, that's all for tonight. Hopefully tomorrow will be better weather and we'll get to actually see the city! Wish us luck! :-)
